Svartediket – The First Ever Black Metal Musical

The Black Metal musical that has been in production since last year is scheduled to premiere on the 26th of May. And what more, blabbermouth.net confirmed the appearance of Ex-Gorgoroth Vocalist, Kristian Gaahl in the movie.

The appearance has sprouted controversy in Norway, since the churches have concerns about Gaahl’s previous statements in media about Christianity. Gaahl previously made controversial statements about the church burning activities in the late Norwegian Black Metal Scene in the documentary “Metal – A Head Banger’s Journey”. Yet, all this is secondary, for the musical is eagerly awaited by Black Metal fans all over the world.

UK Metal Heads Fight for Heavy Metal to be Recognized as a Religion.

That’s right, in 2001, there were 390,127 people in England and Wales and a further 14,052 in Scotland who stated that “Jedi” was their religion. And this was approved. Jedi was the 4th most popular religion in the UK at that time. Saxon vocalist, Biff Byford, along with Metal Hammer Magazine is now fighting for Heavy Metal to be accepted as a religion for the 2011 Census. As Alexander Milas – the editor of Metal Hammer – says, “If Jedi can do it metal heads obviously stand a chance.” There is a lot of combined ambiguity about the attempt; a blog post by The Guardian has stated that the task would be impossible considering the division amongst the sub-genres in Metal. The Guardian has also given opinions of what Genres WOULD unite enough people for the genre to be accepted as a Religion, which included genres that only a petty few people listen to with passion, compared to Metal. What The Guardian lacked is the simple knowledge of what Metal is all about.
