Myles Kennedy to Front Slash’s Solo Album Tour
Metal in India and the Backstreet Boys
It was a shock for Metal fans in India, and also the metal heads in south Asia, when DNA (the organizers of Rock in India) announced that they will be bringing down the Backstreet Boys and Richard Marx for the 2010 festival instead of a metal band. The festival that featured Megadeath, Machine Head and Iron Maiden previously, has claimed that The Backstreet boys are more commercially viable than bringing down a Metal band. We, at The Backdoor, wonder what in the world the DNA management was smoking when over 60,000 people turned out to watch Iron Maiden in 2009.
Since the announcement has been made, all the furious metal heads in India have been objecting to the event, asking the organizers to drop the word “Rock” from the title and to remove the pictures of the previous metal performances from the event’s official web page. The official web page for the festival has been hacked continuously, and had recently had a giant cock published on the homepage.
Myles Kennedy to tour with Slash
Last week, Slash announced the vocalist for his Solo tour. Slash confirmed that Myles Kennedy, the front man of Alter Bridge, will tour with him for his solo tour as the vocalist. For all Alter Bridge and Myles Kennedy fans this has been an awe inspiring moment. In an online post, this is what Slash has to say:
I want to announce that Myles Kennedy is going to be fronting the band for the upcoming tour. Something I’m really stoked about.
Myles sang a killer track on the record and I think he is by far one of the best Rock and Roll singers out there today. I’m really honored and proud to be working with him.
I will announce the other band members shortly.
Lastly, we’re starting to route the tour.
I want all my fans to follow me on Twitter and tell me what city/country they’re from and to tell all their friends and family in that city/country, who are fans, to do the same. I want to get a really good idea on where my fans are, even the obvious major cities and focus the tour around that. So if you’re from Alaska or Zimbabwe or anywhere in between, I want to hear from you.

I’m excited about the new record and about the band I’m putting together for the tour.
I’ve been jamming around town with everybody and their brother for the last year and I can’t wait to get out and do my own show finally. It’s going to be a gas.
Slash had been aware of and impressed by Myles’s vocals way before, and had previously invited him to audition for Velvet Revolver; an offer Myles declined since he wanted to focus on other projects. Two years later, Myles along with Mark Tremonti formed the Hard Rock band Alter Bridge. Check out The Backdoor’s Exclusive interview with Myles Kennedy where he talks to The Backdoor about Velvet Revolver and Alter Bridge.
