Kurt Cobain and Nirvana were the last great rock band and inspired me so much, RIP Kurt, and for the record, Pearl Jam for me didn't live up to the hype, Nirvana did.

Decades on we dont hear much grunge but pearl has had such great staying power..doubt nirvana could ever measure up to pearl or cobain to vedder for that matter.. dont get me wrong nirvana had some great hits but grunge really begins with Mike McCreedy and Stone Gossard from pearl waay back in the early 90s...

And nirvana can be terrible at live concerts unlike pearl who give it all for their fans..pearl jam - greatest grunge band ever..nuff said

whooa there...nirvana may have been the band that gained the most exposure during the grunge explosion and kurt might have been a spokesperson for an entire generation...i have to disagree about them being the best grunge band...as a song writer cobain had the ability to reach ppl...but as musicians? they wernt really that great...dont get me wrong they have inspired me alot...their best live show was supposed hav been the unplugged one and they mess up so much....kurt is soo loaded and unlike ppl like hendrix and morrisson, nirvana didnt sound that great loaded...this is just an opinion by the way...i would all the other bands of the grunge movement kicked nirvanas ass musically and even lyrically in most cases...bands like soundgarden, alice in chains and pearl Jam...were way ahead of nirvana always...they just became poster boys for an entire generation...admittedly not what cobain wanted but as history has shown us, poster boys for movements arnt always the best at their art...sid vicious for example is worshipped by many ppl...and he's probably the worst bass player in history...even he has admitted he cant play bass...kurt cobain has also said things like they dont care if theyre instruments are in tune...so anyway point...an important band in the grunge era but definitely not the best
